Tourist Office Hengersberg
Dear Visitors and Guests!
We welcome you warmly to the sunny side of the Bavarian Forest near the River Danube!
Our market town, Hengersberg, was established 1000 years ago by St. Gotthard. Historical chroniclers write that the settlement developed so quickly into a busy centre of trading and commerce that Emperor Heinrich II granted the town market rights in 1009.
Today, Hengersberg is still a traditional centre of commerce, but we also have modern service industries. With the many festivities that we celebrate throughout the year, as a visitor to Hengersberg, you can participate in our warm and natural hospitality. Please also take a look at the calendar of events.
There are many recreational facilities offering a wide variety of things to do such as our beautiful swimming pool complex (indoor and outdoor pools), tennis courts, marksmen/women clubhouse, bowling alley, sauna, medicinal pool facilities, fitness center and summer asphalt curling alley. Well-developed hiking, Nordic-walking and bicycle trails invite you to explore the local area. The free-flowing River Danube, the Ohe River and a nearby man-made lake (formerly, a gravel quarry) provide good fishing opportunities and areas in which to relax and enjoy the green, rural countryside. There are many natural sites of particular beauty, as well as interesting historical buildings or monuments located close by.
Hengersberg offers its guests a variety of hotels, guesthouses, pensions, holiday flats, private rooms and farm holidays in all different categories. There is also a wide range of restaurants and pubs providing excellent food and drink at family-friendly prices. Hengersberg is ideally situated for meetings and seminars. The location next to the BAB (German motorway) A3 makes it fast and easy to reach us (see travel directions).
